Offset and Digital File Prep FAQ

What file type is needed?

Please send as a .PDF to document size, with crop marks. We prefer that you send files with outlined fonts.

What colors should I use?

You should always start and finish your designs in CMYK color mode.

What is the recommended resolution?

We strongly suggest 300dpi files and no less. Low resolution files may be printed as is or will be placed on hold until we receive new files, slowing your turn-around.

How do I set up bleeds?

Bleeds must extend 1/8” past the crop marks. Also, please keep text or anything you may not want omitted 1/8” from cut line.

How can I make the color black more solid?

Rich black is an ink mixture of solid black, 100% K, with additional CMY ink values. This results in a darker tone than black ink alone. If you print black alone as 100% K, the resulting black may not be as dark as you might like. We recommend using C 60 M 40 Y 40 K 100

"Approximately 9 years ago I was shopping around for an economical solution to our company’s out of control printing costs when I came across Cardinal Printing.  After running a cost comparison to 3 other companies and meeting with them I decided to go with Cardinal and have never been disappointed with my decision.  Mike Tams, the owner of Cardinal Printing has been hands on from the beginning.  When I need something fast, it’s there; when I need something designed, he gets it done!  In addition to paper based printed material, he’s helped us with our charity functions which requires embroidered golf bags, shirts, and imprinted golf balls.  Cardinal has done all of this while maintaining competitive pricing and I couldn’t be happier with the service, costs and reliability!"
